Admission Requirements
Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from a four-year college or university, with a 3.0 GPA or better in any subject. Students who have graduated from an ACEND Accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) and have received a verification statement are eligible to apply, without the required pre-requisite courses. Those students who earned a degree in any other subject, may apply as long as they have completed the required pre-requisite courses prior to the start of the program.
All Egan graduate students are expected to comply with all requirements of their clinical/experiential learning agencies. Noncompliance with agency requirements (e.g. vaccination mandates) may result in the student being unable to complete the program requirements for graduation.
Prerequisite courses for the program beginning Fall 2025:
- 1 semester of General Chemistry and lab
- 1 semester of Biochemistry
- 1 semester of Microbiology and lab
- 2 semesters of Anatomy and Physiology and Lab
- Introduction to Nutrition course
Applicants may apply prior to completing the pre-requisite courses, with no more than two courses outstanding. All the courses must be completed with a grade of C or better prior to starting the program.
Admission Process
Applications open October 1 and have a priority deadline of February 1. ÍâÍøÁÔÆæ will notify admitted applicants no later than March 1, and they will have until March 15 to accept their offers. If openings are still available after March 15, additional applications will be accepted until July 1.
Students seeking admission must submit:
- A Completed Application. (
- A non-refundable application fee.
- Resume or Vita
- Personal Statement. Please write a one to two page letter of personal introduction and professional intent. Include the following information in your personal statement:
- What inspired you to choose nutrition as a career?
- What are your short and long term goals?
- How will the DCN program at ÍâÍøÁÔÆæ assist you in achieving these goals?
- Transcripts. Submit transcripts from all colleges and universities attended that contributed to the baccalaureate degree as well as transcripts documenting completion of the pre-requisite courses (see Admission Requirements above). If you are enrolled in a pre-requisite course the same semester you apply, please include evidence of enrollment in final pre-requisite courses.
- Graduate Record Examination. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is NOT required.
- Letters of Recommendation. Applicants need two professional references.
- International Students. We are accepting International students at this time.
